How does Blobo work?

Blobo uses the combination of future sensor technologies that no competing product is able to offer. Hundreds of times per second, Blobo measures the prevailing magnetic field and its direction,  acceleration and its direction, the air pressure inside the ball, as well as other physical quantities. Blobo then sends the information, relevant to the game, through the wireless Bluetooth connection to the user's display unit (where the game is displayed), which can be a PC or Mac that uses Fun&Fit game package.

How can a whole game console fit inside such a small ball?

I don't live in Finland. How can I buy Blobo?

If you are living in Finland, Sweden or Estonia, you can buy Blobo from Verkkokauppa.com. During 2010, Blobo will be sold all over the world, including Europe, USA and Asia.

The Blobo application or Fun&Fit-game states: " No Bluetooth device. Turn Bluetooth on." , even though my PC has Bluetooth. Why wouldn't it work?

Blobo has been tested to work with every possible brand's PC Bluetooth program, as well as with their different versions. Firstly, try to restart you PC, and then make sure, according to the PC's or Bluetooth adaptor's manual, that Bluetooth really is on and is activated. In new laptops Bluetooth is turned on by various key combinations, or physically, by pressing a button located on the side of the laptop. Ultimately, you can check whether your Bluetooth is on by connecting to your mobile phone through the normal Bluetooth menu. If that fails, your PC's bluetooth is off, so Blobo cannot work.

The light in Blobo isn't blinking, even though I'm shaking it.

Blobo's battery is flat. Follow the instructions in the manual to charge it.

The light in Blobo won't start flashing even though I've plugged in the charger, what's wrong?

Make sure you have pushed the charger's plug to the bottom, and wait for an hour.  If the battery has been empty for a long time, for example while being stored, it can take some time until the charging will start.

Fun&Fit game gave me a warning "The connection with Blobo is lost" while I was playing, even though Blobo is charged. What could be the problem?

Blobo is a radio device that sends information via Bluetooth signal. The Bluetooth in Blobo has top-class coverage, but the quality of reception is essentially determined by the Bluetooth in your PC as well. Different PCs have different Bluetooth solutions with varying coverage.  If you are using an external Bluetooth adapter, it should be placed in such a way, that there is straight connection  between Blobo and the adapter. For example an adapter placed at the back of a laptop is in a worst possible location, so try to move it to the USB-port on the side of the computer or, if needed, connect the device through a USB extention cord. Some laptops' Bluetooth adapters have low coverage, and what you can do against that is to play closer to the laptop and make sure nothing, including your own body, is in between Blobo and your laptop.

Blobo application or Fun&Fit game does not recognise Blobo, even though Bluetooth is on, and "Searching, wait.."- message is blinking on the screen. What should I do?

If you are in a place with many Bluetooth devices around you, such as in public or in an open-plan office, you may have to perform "Find new and connect..."-search a few times before Blobo appears on the screen. This is Bluetooth's quality and not Blobo's fault. Always make sure before you press "Find new and connect..."- button, that Blobo's light is blinking. If even after these attempts Blobo ball hasn't appeared on the screen with the "Connect" button,  it is possible that your PC Bluetooth adapter is malfunctioning. Reboot your computer and try again.

Blobo is found with the "Find new and connect" command. Why is the connection not established when I press the "Connect" button?

Make sure that Blobo's ligh is blinking before you press the "Connect" button. If it isn't blinking, shake Blobo again before pressing the button. Also keep in mind that if there are other Blobos around, your PC might try connecting to them (to prevent that, create a name for your Blobo in Fun&Fit settings, so that you recognise your Blobo). If the connection is still not established, it may have happened so that your PC's Bluetooth adapter is malfunctioning. Reboot your computer and try again.

I have a Samsung NC10 minicomputer. I cannot find the instructions on how to turn the Bluetooth on anywhere from the  manufacturer's manual. What should I do?

In that particular model, Bluetooth is switched on exceptionally only when you open Bluetooth Main Menu. Leave the Menu window open and proceed with Fun&Fit game as usual.

I have a computer with Ralink Motorola Bluetooth. Blobo driver says "No Bluetooth detected.", even when Bluetooth is actually on. What should I do?

Blobo SW is not compatible with Ralink Motorola Bluetooth at the moment. Please use external Bluetooth dongle with Blobo in this case.

My PC has Nokia PC Suite/ Sony Ericsson Data Suite/ some other phone manufacturer's PC- software installed. Whie playing Fun&Fit, Blobo's connection works unstably and occasionally breaks up. What should I do?

Phone manufacturer's software that is running in the background is also using your PC's Bluetooth. This can disturb Blobo's Bluetooth connection to your PC. Before playing with Blobo, try to close all the software of that sort and make sure that they aren't left running in the background.
