The Finnish Blobo will revolutionise gameplay

Blobo is a soft ball that fits in a pocket and can sense the tiniest of movements and the hardest of blows. The cordless Blobo offers a fun and genuinely athletic gaming experience for players both big and small. Blobo includes the FUN & FIT game pack for the PC and it will soon be available in stores.

Throw, swing, jump..

"Throw Blobo in the air and your screen character will shoot a basketball. Swing it hard - and you'll break a stack of boards. By squeezing Blobo your character will shoot an arrow. With Blobo in your pocket you can challenge your friends in ski jumping, running or long jumping", says Juha Rytky, the CEO of Ball-It Oy, the company behind Blobo. The Blobo starter pack comes with six games - basketball, archery, karate, long jumping, 100 meter sprint, bowling - which will familiarise the player with the new playing style. According to Juha Rytky, more Blobo games are available for download and more are coming during this winter."The new games we are working on will focus on Blobo's athletic strengths, the ability to measure true hit speeds and super fast movements combined with entertaining gameplay. This is something that is outside the scope of other gaming equipment and it will take fitness gaming to a whole new level when it comes to anaerobic exercise and muscle strength development. The Fun & Fit games included in the starter pack already provide good evidence of this." Burn those calories

In addition to being a game controller, Blobo is also a calorie counter. It was calibrated in collaboration with the Finnish Institute for Occupational Health and it provides an accurate count of the calories the player burns while playing. The tiny Blobo containing the player character and the score count can easily fit into a pocket or a backpack, and will function as a step counter when carried around.

Patented technology

Blobo is based on industry-leading sensor technology measuring movement, rotation, magnetic fields and pressure. The Bluetooth connection enables compatibility even with mobile phones. This will lead to downloadable mobile games and small, useful applications like a pedometer, barometer and compass. The Finnish Ball-It Oy has been developing the patented Blobo technology ever since the company was founded in 2005, and the international expectations have been rising.
